Rwanda has ensured proper governance of land tenure by enabling every resident to access and individually own land and that will reduce land disputes among residents.
The parliamentary committee on economic development and finance of the senate has visited selected sectors countrywide to gather information on the status of land registration process.
Earlier this week, the committee visited Nyanza District and found that the process of registering land is promising positive results in solving land disputes despite delays in providing land title certificates.
Uwumuremyi Marie Claire, in charge of land titles issuance in Nyanza District has told media that despite land registration process being on a right track only one third of the population in Nyanza has received their land title certificates.
However, Uwumuremyi said land registration process has resolved lad disputes conflicts among families.
Senator Evariste Bizimana, Vice president of the parliamentary committee on economic development and finance, said that once the registration process is complete there is hope some of land related conflicts will be solved.
