{Some residents and local leaders of Mututu cell, Kibirizi sector of Nyanza district have unveiled a plan of implementing measures against genocide ideology.}
Some of these measures were realized as 60 Mututu residents and leaders came together on Sunday to visit Murambi genocide memorial in Nyamagabe district. The visit was organized to enable people learn from history and devising means of eradicating genocide ideology.
The move follows some residents of Mututu who were found guilty of genocide ideology during commemoration activities of the 1994 genocide against Tutsi. One resident of Mututu cell was accused of organizing a wedding ceremony during the commemoration period while another was guilty of pronouncing words hurting genocide survivors.
The advisor of Kibirizi sector, Rudahunga Faustin says they have taken measures of visiting the memorial among others to witness the truth of history of 1994 genocide against Tutsi.
“Some residents of our sector were involved in activities trivializing genocide. This pushed us to embrace counteractive measures of such cases. We thought about sending representatives of residents to visit the memorial so that they teach genocide history from an informed point of view,” he said.
“I will teach what I witnessed to people I represent and my students,”said Clementine Muragijemaliya, a teacher who represented women during the visit at Murambi memorial.
50 genocide victims are buried at Murambi memorial.
