{{The commemoration week has concluded peacefully in Nyamasheke district an area that has been synonymous with use of offensive language that hurt genocide survivors.}}

Officials in Nyamasheke have announced that for the first time throughout the period of Genocide commemoration no Genocide ideology case reported among residents.

This was announced April 13, at the conclusion of national week of marking commemoration of the 1994 genocide of Tutsis.

In previous years during the commemoration period, incidences of use of words and statements that undermined and or promote genocide ideology had been common. However, this year, there were no such incidences.

The Mayor of Nyamasheke District Jean Batiste Habyarimana({pictured below}) said that this is something to be welcomed because it is the first time that the climate of commemoration of the genocide in the District takes place without using words hurting survivors.
