Currently, some residents of Nyamagabe District are afraid of a new famine named “Konoshi” saying that it would spread in the whole District if no measures taken.
However, District Authorities deny the developments assuring IGIHE that there are no devastating effects of such famine.
Mukarwego Umuhoza Immaculée, the Vice Mayor in charge of Economics and Development of Nyamagabe District has said that citizens must not fear due to the fact that the district is doing everything to avoid any famine in the area.
“They hurriedly named a ‘child’(famine) which doesn’t exist. We are sure that “Konoshi” doesn’t exist and it will not come to our District” Mukarwego said.
She pointed out that in some sectors of the District has been a problem of lack of rain and other sectors devastated by flooding which destroying crops.
However, the vice mayor insisted there is no outbreak of famine in the District.
