Maize farmers in Nyagatare district have been urged to sell their produce to bigger markets as a way of increasing production and also modernizing.
The advise was given by the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Ernerst Ruzinda.
In recent seasons, farmers in the district have been harvesting thousands of tons of maize but have been lacking enough markets to supply their produce.
However, Ruzinda, noted, “The issue of lack of markets for your maize will be a thing of the past. There are a number of companies that are willing to buy your produce. What you are required is to maintain that your production is of good quality”.
The permanent secretary added that his Ministry will negotiate and link farmers with companies working with the Ministry of trade and commerce as well as Rwanda Grains and Cereals Corporation (RGCC).
