Nyagatare: Community Policing Committees urged on efficiency

{Members of Community Policing Committees (CPCs) in Nyagatare District have been urged to be more efficient in responding to incidences of crime in order to facilitate safety and peace in their communities.}

The call was made on January 24 in Nyagatare Sector during a community outreach exercise that attracted over 200 members of CPCs in the sector.

The District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO), Inspector of Police IP Claude Kaburabuza said that the failure to perfect their work also gives room for wrongdoers to commit crimes.

IP Kaburabuza urged them to put much emphasis on crime detection and sharing real time information on anything suspicious to be on a preventive side rather than responding to consequences.

“We still encounter the challenge of illicit drugs in communities including in this sector. We need to identify drug traffickers and distillers of illicit brew so as to break the chain of supply and subsequently consumption,” said the DCLO.

The meeting was also attended by local leaders including the executive secretary of Nyagatare Sector, and members of District Administration Security Support Organ (DASSO).
