Rwanda’s ambassador to Algeria, Sheikh Habimana who attended the 3rd graduation at Tlemcen University on October 1, 2018, urged graduates to work with others in developing Rwanda, which enabled them get the scholarships.
“Your country Rwanda wants you to contribute highly to its development. You have an obligation of paying back for the scholarships the country gave you. You should help more Rwandans have access to electricity and water,” he said.
Prof. Sarah Anyang Agbor, the AU Commissioner for Science and Technology, thanked the graduates for the hard work they demonstrated during their studies.
“Thank you for having preserved the values of our continent. I wish you all the best in your future. Africa and I are happy for you,” he said.
Seventy-nine students from 25 African countries completed Master of Science in Water and a Master of Science in Energy.
It was for the third time for PAUES to hold graduation since its founding in 2014.
The 9 Rwandans who completed Masters degree at PAUWES are; Amos Shyaka Kazora, Vincent Habumugisha, Théobald Bizihuraho who graduated in Water Science department; Jean Paul Sibomana, Kelvin Rugira, Alexis Mutabaruka and Jean Baptiste Rutibabara in Energy Studies, Ernest Nshimiyimana who graduated in Energy and Engineering and Gisele Icyimpaye, Water Engineering.
Ambassador Sheikh Habimana said the knowledge acquired by students at PAUWES will help them improve economy in their respective countries.
“President Kagame whom I represent here today loves the youth. He was given duties to develop the youths in the African Union. There is hope that that he will understand your requests and help you develop yourselves,’’ he said.by its own citizens and acting as a dynamic force in the international arena.
Students at PAUWES are trained to become engineers and policy analysts, able to address Africa’s most pressing development challenges.
Since its founding in 2014, 20 Rwandans have got Masters Degrees from the Institute. Twenty Rwandans are expected to complete Masters Degree programmes in 2019 and three expected to graduate in 2020.
