Nine countries for remembering volleyball players, fans

Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FVRB) has invited nine countries with close partnership in games that will be played between 4th and 5th June as part of remembering players and fans and other members of volleyball associations who were killed in 1994 genocide against Tutsi.

In an interview with IGIHE, the president of Rwanda Volleyball Federation and the coordinator of Olympics committee in charge of commemoration activities, Gustave Nkurunziza said that all activities regarding commemoration will be held between 1st and 15th June, 2016 but on behalf of FRVB such commemoration activities will be held on 4th and 5th June, 2016.

“In volleyball, we have invited different countries including, Tunisia, Cameroon, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Kenya, South Sudan and Uganda. This competition will be held in commemoration of victims killed in the 1994 genocide against Tutsi. We will also convey messages regarding the theme of this year ‘remember genocide perpetrated against Tutsi, fighting its ideology ‘,”he said.

Nkurunziza further appealed on players and fans of various games that sports must be a bond of unity regardless of background. He urged them to uphold the culture of realizing peace, forgiveness and establish love, avoiding discrimination.
