Ngoma residents frustrated over electricity shortage

Residents of Kagarama cell, Rusenge sector of Ngoma district say the shortage of electricity is jeopardizing development.

Residents of Kagarama cell explain, they are obliged to walk to neighboring cell to charge batteries of their phones.

“We don’t have electricity to even fulfill small tasks as charging phones. We are living in isolation since we are uninformed as we can’t watch TV and run other businesses requiring electicity,” said one of the residents, Noheli Christophe.

Residents say that it is not easy for them to run projects requiring electricity such as salons and carpentry.

The executive secretary of Kagarama cell, Ndacyayisenga Emilie said that they have made advocacy and hope the problem will be solved soon.

“Electricity is a serious matter in this cell and we have conducted advocacy for it,” she said.
