“The construction firm will hand to us the premises and students start using them. It has capacity of accommodating a big number of students, about 400, with 13 with lecture rooms, studios and offices,” he said.

Construction works started back in 2015. The premises’ master plan was developed by French Architect Patrick Schweitzer.

Speaking to France based media house, France Bleu recently, Schweitzer said that he borrowed the inspiration of the master plan from Volcanoes located in the Northern region of Rwanda.

“The idea was to construct a building which has lessons. We started from things available locally as a way to encourage students who will study there love local things,” he said.

The school was constructed using materials available locally including volcanic rocks locally known as ‘amakoro’. Over 350 got jobs during the construction activities.
