New garment factory in Nyanza District set to create over 300 jobs

The factory specializes in producing a diverse range of clothing, catering especially to students, sports clubs, and businesses. Jean Bosco Munyantore, the factory’s manager, shared his insights on how this establishment serves as a vital solution to meet the clothing needs of the Rwandan populace, particularly in the Southern Province.

In a proactive effort to reduce reliance on imported garments, the factory has also reached out to traders in Kigali who previously sourced clothing from China and other regions. These traders have shown keen interest in placing orders with the factory, heralding a positive outlook for the venture.

Munyantore emphasized the factory’s commitment to producing exquisite, custom-made clothing that aligns with customer preferences, and the early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

He also unveiled the factory’s ambitious goal of creating over 300 job opportunities, with a remarkable 90% of these positions intended for young individuals.

“We embarked on this journey with an initial setup of 65 sewing machines and a workforce of 70 dedicated employees. In the near future, we are planning to expand our operations to accommodate 200 machines, enabling the factory to operate at full capacity and employ more than 300 individuals, with a strong focus on empowering the youth,” Munyantore stated.

Nadine Kayitesi, the Vice Mayor of Nyanza District in charge of Social Affairs, lauded the factory’s establishment as a commendable initiative to promote smart dressing and contribute significantly to the local economy by offering job opportunities to residents.

The factory, valued at over Rwf1 billion, is poised to reach its full operational potential in the near future, marking a promising development for the region and the nation as a whole.
