{The Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu has today arrived in Rwanda with his wife Sara where he has been welcomed by President Paul Kagame at Kigali International Airport around 10:00 am. }
Netanyahu is in Rwanda in one day official visit. At his arrival, Netanyahu headed to Kigali Genocide Memorial site to honor the victims of the Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi in 1994.
At Kigali Genocide Memorial Site, Netanyahu was shown an introductory film about the Genocide against the Tutsi through the eyes of survivors. Together with President Kagame and their wives, they also toured the wasted lives exhibition that gives details on Genocide around the World including the Holocaust.
Prime Minister Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu laid a wreath at the Kigali Genocide Memorial Site in remembrance of the victims.
After that, Netanyahu and his wife shared expressed heartfelt of being saddened by the sad history of Genocide against the Tutsi.
“We are deeply moved by this memorial to the victims of one of history’s greatest crimes, and reminded of the haunting similarities of the genocide of our own people. Never Again” Netanyahu and his wife Sara wrote in the book of visitors.
Netanyahu’s visit to Africa started in Uganda at Entebbe Airport during the 40th anniversary of his government’s raid on the same airport in 1976 to rescue hostages taken by Palestinian terrorists. Terrorists had been allowed to land Entebbe by the Ugandan President Idi Amin.
Netanyahu attended on Monday a summit of regional leaders on countering terrorism in Uganda.
He continued his journey to Kenya and arrived in Rwanda Today. Netanyahu will conclude the visit to Africa in Ethiopia on Thursday.
