Ndayisaba pledges stronger unity efforts

The new Executive Secretary of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC), Fidèle Ndayisaba has pledged to stand firm against those undermining Rwanda’s and reconciliation efforts that are bearing fruits after a long time of divisiveness.

As he was ascending to the NURC office, the former mayor City of Kigali said that Rwandans precisely know the cost of divisionism, including the death of over a million people, and cannot therefore allow anyone posing and imposing any ideologies that divide communities.

“Some people are waiting to destroy Rwandans unity. As NURC, we must do all that is possible to protect and uphold the values of unity,” said Ndayisaba.

Mugaga Johnson, the former acting executive secretary of NURC reminded Rwandans that a lot needs to be completed in unity and reconciliation noting that Rwandans unity dismantled over 100 years during the colonial period can’t be restored only in 20 years.

The president of NURC, Bishop John Rucyahana promised to support Ndayisaba in the accomplishment of new duties. “We warmly welcome you hoping that you will fulfill responsibilities as you did where you worked previously,” he said.

Fidèle Ndayisaba replaces Dr Habyarimana Jean Baptiste who was appointed Rwandan ambassador to Congo Brazzaville.
