National University to Contribute to Huye Development

The National University of Rwanda (NUR) has vowed to support the development of Huye District which was said to be very slow compared to other areas.

The pledge was made by the Rector of NUR Prof. Silas Rwakabamba during the visit to the district by Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien Habumuremyi.

The Premeir chaired a meeting with Huye opinion leaders on Tuesday.

NUR as an academic institution with different domains of expertise such as agriculture should play a key role in development of Huye.

“We understand our role in the development of Huye. In this regard, we are adopting one village in Huye, the Mucunda village using students and staff members through Umuganda and we invested financially quite a bit in this village”. Prof. Lwakabamba noted.

He added that the national university is committed to continue supporting the District and requested for cooperation with Huye District authorities by defining which support the District needs from NUR as an academic institution.
