{Businessmen and entrepreneurs in Musanze have appealed to Rwanda Development (RDB) to advocate for the creation of stronger collaborative relationship between them and financial institutions to ensure timely access to credit services for enhancing their business growth.}
The appeal was made recently during awareness campaigns organized by RDB to elaborate to Musanze entrepreneurs what their mandate is and giving advisory services on how to strengthen their businesses.
The business community noted that some of their properties have been auctioned with other projects failing to take off due to delays in accessing loans from financial institutions.
Maniragaba Faustin one of the Musanze entrepreneurs said he had started a budding project which later collapsed because of such delays and so appealed to on financial institutions to move faster in deliverance of loans before projects cave-in.
Nduwayezu Elie, the representative of private investors in Musanze requested strong collaboration between RDB, financial institutions and private investors to implement rules and regulating the deadline of loan delivery.
“We have been told that it only takes 24 hours to receive the money after presenting the project proposal. Banks inform us that they require the entire week. However, most times it goes beyond the week making planning and execution of projects more unpredictable some of which collapse,” he observed.
Muhikira Eusebe, the officer in charge of Exports and Business Development at RDB argued banks to speed up loan processing once they ensure security of the loan, noting that business persons need rapid services to attain progress and requested them to work closely with financial institutions in a way that brings mutual benefits.
