{The District Police Unit of Musanze has started a programme to visit all anti crime clubs in the district to further reinforce them to spearhead the campaign against crimes.}
On July, the District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO) of Musanze, Inspector of Police (IP) Viateur Ntiyamira flanked by the executive secretary of Cyuve Sector, Jean Pierre Manzi visited six community anti-crime clubs in the six cells of Cyuve.
Currently, there are 90 anti-crime clubs in Musanze District alone, with 48 of them in communities while 42 others are in schools.
IP Ntiyamira noted that the visit is meant to evaluate their performance as well as boost them in their pursuit for a crime free society.
“It is one thing to have anti-crime clubs and another thing to have active and performing clubs,” said IP Ntiyamira.
He commended them for their awareness and sharing of information of unlawful acts in their respective cells, but added that there are still gaps that drug dealers, distillers of illicit brew and thieves take advantage of, which should be closed.
“The idea behind creation of these anti-crime clubs should as well be the driving force to campaign against crime and be the first to know and report any crime or anything that can cause insecurity,” IP Ntiyamira told the members.
Meanwhile, the DCLO disclosed that they intend to create anti-crime clubs in all 68 cells in Musanze and in all schools to strengthen the community policing ideal in Musanze.
