{The state minister in charge of social welfare in the Ministry of Local Government, Mukabaramba Alvera has said that they are disappointed with leaders delaying disbursement of funds from Vision Umurenge Project (VUP) and others refusing to release the funds once transferred to respective accounts.}
She revealed this yesterday during a meeting with MINALOC had with district officials in charge of social welfare where she urged local leaders to improve performance in the usage of funds meant for the vulnerable citizens.
Mukabaramba said that some problems remain unsolved not because of lack of funds but poor performance of leaders.
“Some leaders delay to release money meant for the vulnerable people supported under the VUP even when the funds are availed on the account, acts of laziness that cannot be tolerated. We are tired of saying the same things over and again with people that are not changing. Such practices must come to an end,” she said.
Mukabaramba reminded social affairs officials to support the masses out of poverty.
The problem of delayed implementation of different programs and projects meant to support vulnerable Rwandans has been noted to be rampant throughout the country.
