{The Senate has confirmed Richard Muhumuza a judge of the Supreme Court and Mutangana Jean Bosco to replace him as the prosecutor general as granted by law. }
The posts to which they are confirmed into were proposed during the recent cabinet meeting held on 9th December 2016.
In a general assembly of the extra-ordinary sitting of the Senate held yesterday, the president of senatorial political commission and good governance Senator Sindikubwabo Jean Nepomuscène said that the officials were evaluated and found to be qualified for the respective posts.
Senator Sindikubwabo explained that the interview between Muhumuza with senators political commission and good governance focused on what he will prioritize during his tenure.
“It emerged that he has enough experience in the judicial sector as a prosecutor. He outlined the main problems facing judicial sector and the supreme court including backlog,” he said.
Richard Muhumuza studied at the National University of Rwanda. He served as the prosecutor in the office of the prosecutor general from 2011 t0 2013.
Mutangana Jean Bosco who was appointed to replace Muhumuza holds a masters degree in international criminal law and prosecution obtained in The Netherlands in 2015.
He served as the prosecutor in the office of the prosecutor general from 2014-2016, the spokesperson of the prosecution between 2004-2009 and served as the head of department in charge of pursuing genocide suspects between 2007-2010 among others.
