Following numerous postponements of the Trial of Leon Mugesera,on Friday the Court decided to move forward with the Judgment.
It started with the hearing on the merits of the trial of Mugesera for inciting genocide.
The trial on the merits began by listening to the recording of the violently anti-Tutsi speech delivered in 1992 by Mugesera during a party rally at Kabaya.
The charge is then delivered to an analysis of this speech that is said, was a trigger for the genocide of 1994 against the ethnic Tutsi.
Mugesera is accused of having called the Tutsi “cockroaches” and has encouraged the Hutus to kill them.
He is also accused to have provided material support to the Interahamwe militia groups that carried out executions.
