Embattled genocide suspect Léon Mugesera appeared before the High Court based again on February 5, to give his explanations about his role in raising awareness among Rwandans to commit 1994 Genocide against tutsi.
In his arguments, Mugesera accused Rwanda Patriotic Front, USA and Uganda for being source of the killings that took place adding the killing was due to RPF invasion.
The Prosecution asked Mugesera to explain the linkage between the speech he delivered in Kabaya that, the prosecution said, was encouraging Hutus to exterminate Tutsis and later followed by Bagogwe massacres that took place in 1992.
Mugesera refrained from making any comment on 1992 speech that sensitized Hutus to massacre Tutsis.
Seven hours before the court, the accused was merely reading from the international press as well as consulting the book of Pierre Péan who accused the RPF to plan for the invasion of Rwanda.
Mugesera also brought the book to show the court how the killings have been prepared by the MDR Power.
“The fact that there was a bad atmosphere in the country, clashes and disorder in 1992; I am not the cause because I was not in the country at the time.”
“Since I left the country in 1992, I have not been in politics, “Mugesera told the court.
