MTN Rwanda, Western Union sign overseas money transfer deal

MTN Rwanda and Western Union have signed a mobile money transfer deal to enable Rwandans living abroad to send money directly to their relatives’ mobile phones.

MTN Rwanda CEO Ebenezer Asante said this will significantly reduce the time used physically to go to Western Union branches to pick up cash.

Asante said ex-patriot Rwandans can remit money back home to MTN subscribers swiftly and with greater convenience, New Times reported. MTN currently has over 3 million mobile money customers.
