MPs on countrywide tour to assess policies’ implementation

From 18th to 26th January 2016 members of parliament will be visiting various districts upcountry, assessing the implementation of adopted policies in combating malnutrition and promotion of hygiene.

They will also visit development projects of districts.

The MPs have divided themselves into groups which will visit almost all sectors of the country with the aim of gauging the implementation of policies.

Throughout their tour, parliamentarians will mostly target sectors affected by poor hygiene related-disease and malnutrition. They will as well meet local leaders at various levels to discuss ways of continuous improvement of citizens’ welfare.

Others issues of importance to be considered during the tour are; distribution of fertilizers, linking farmers to markets, post-harvest handling, among others.
This is the second time that MPs hold such tours the first having been held at beginning of 2015 as they followed up on VUP, Ubudehe, Girinka, hygiene, combating malaria, human trafficking and fighting drug abuse among other large projects of districts.

The parliament has decided to organize these visits twice a year following to enable them gather information to support formulation of evidence-based policies.
