More Refugees Increasingly Returning Home

The Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugees has said since the beginning of January, more Rwandan refugees are increasing returning home.

Refugees are coming from forests of the Democratic Republic of of Congo. About 88 refugees returned safely on Tuesday.

Antoine Ruvebana, the Permanent Secretary in MIDIMAR told IGIHE that all refugees received warm welcome to Rwanda.

MIDIMAR said refugees will receive a form of training to prepare them on intergrating into local population.

“Some still have the bad image that they have inherited during the whole time they spent in forests so there is a need to put them in the transit camp to see how they can be integrated in Rwandan Society.”

Refugees noted that returning to Rwanda will allow their children to receive education.

Since Friday, 4th about 360 Rwandan refugees have returned to their Country.

They are now accommodated in Nyagatare Camp in Rusizi District before they head to their respective places of origin.
