Mituelle de Santé mismanagement squarely addressed–RSSB

{Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) has unveiled a plan to collaborate with the Rwandan Diaspora to boost citizens’ involvement in the contribution to the medical insurance scheme after realizing some gaps. }

This was unveiled on Wednesday during the meeting of various institutions operating in the country with Rwandans in the Diaspora.

Rulisa Alexis, the head of Medical Insurance Fund Department at RSSB revealed that lack of involvement in contributing to medical insurance is due to lack of awareness, noting they have launched a countrywide program of mobilization through radios, televisions, print media and face to face meetings in the countryside. He said that vulnerable families are supported and further requested the Rwandan Diaspora to play their role in the campaign.

“Fellow Rwandans in the Diaspora are seeking ways of supporting vulnerable Rwandans to access medical insurance,” said Rulisa, adding that challenges of mismanagement of Mituelle de Santé have been squarely addressed and members are now getting excellent services.

The president of Rwanda Diaspora Global Network (RDGN), Alice Kabagire Cyusa has said that the Diaspora are seeking to support various projects in Rwanda including medical insurance scheme.

“We are seeking ways of establishing a fund that will support Rwandans under the first Ubudehe category in five most vulnerable districts of the country. We want to be partners of our country’s development,” she noted.

Currently, 78% of Rwandans are subscribed to the medical insurance fund.
