Mitali was no longer Ambassador before fleeing-Government Official

Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo has revealed that Protais Mitali, the former president of PL and ambassador of Rwanda in Ethiopia, was no longer envoy to that country even before fleeing.

Based on sources, on April 3, 2015 this website has reported that the Ambassador of Rwanda in Ethiopia has fled to Europe.

Though the Minister does not give details on the current location of the former ambassador, she says available information shows that Mitali is neither in Ethiopia nor in Rwanda.

Mushikiwabo explained that Mitali was no longer the ambassador of Rwanda following the complaint addressed to the Government by members of PL party he was the president who accused him of embezzling over 50 million Rwf from the Party.

Speaking to local media, Minister Mushikiwabo said, “It is true, Ambassador Mitali was no longer to that post after the Government received a complaint against him where PL party accuses him of embezzling money when he was the Leader of the Party. We warned him that he is no longer the ambassador unless he first of all clears the issues he had in his party. » Translated from Kinyarwanda version

On 23rd March 2015, MINAFFET summoned him to come and give clarifications on that issue.

He was expected to arrive in Rwanda on Saturday, 4th April following MINAFFET’s summons.

On Friday, a day before his arrival, it was emerged that Mitali has preferred to flee to Europe rather than coming to Rwanda.
