
Minister Mukantabana Seraphine
Rwanda’s newly appointed Minister of Disaster management and Refugees Affairs, Mukantabana Seraphine, has pledged Government Support to refugees located in Nkamira transit Camp adding that the Government is doing everything possible to relocate them to another place.
The Minister was touring Nkamira Transit Camp as a way to collect all necessary information about living conditions in refugee Camps.
Mukantabana said there are ongoing activities of constructing a new camp where refugees will be relocated adding that the new place will be safe enough.
In the last three months, Nkamira camp has received about 7,603 Congolese refugees waiting for relocation.
Earlier, refugees would be relocated from Nkamira Camp to Kigeme Camp however, Kigeme camp is totally occupied.
Congolese refugees told Minister Mukantabana that FDLR is the major cause of insecurity in some of the parts of DRC where those refugees came from.
Mukantabana said Rwanda will continue to play active role so that peace is restored in Democratic Republic of Congo.
She said if peace is restored in DRC that could end movement of refugees coming to Rwanda.
