Minister Busingye urges court bailiffs to up efforts in recovering government wealth

{The Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Johnston Busingye has requested court bailiffs to recover debts people owe to the government as government plans to apply all necessary means to recover its resources from debtors. }

He made the call yesterday in a dialogue that brought together the Ministry of Justice and professional court bailiffs from across the country where they discussed various issues including the draft law determining the job of court bailiffs.

“Before shifting from finalizing of court cases, I would like to remind Rwandans that the government will recover its money from people owing it regardless of the amount. If they don’t pay, the government will attach the securities wherever it is located through court bailiffs,” he said.

“We have so far recovered Rwf 400, 240, 271 and USD 6,743 since the inception of the program of recovering government resources,” he added.

Busingye said that the government still have unrecovered wealth equaling Rwf 2, 119, 929, 778 and 29 904.

He urged professional court bailiffs to provide their services in rendering justice without favour.

“I remind you to finalize the court cases. Based on the recompense of 5% for recovered wealth you can earn more than Rwf 105 996 449. I also request you help people the government owe payments through legal procedures,” he said.
