In an interview with IGIHE , Bugingo Emmanuel, a MINISPOC official has vehemently rejected the circulated rumors, saying Johnny McKinstry is still serving his position in all conferred capacities.
“Disseminated news of his dismissal is simply false. Much as we have not posted good results in the recent past, dismissal, just like recruitment, is long procedure that takes due processes. There is a contract to execute and principles to observe. So we are critically scrutinizing the available and possible options,” he said.
Despite doubts Rwandans had after the admission of the coach who was selected from among a long list of experienced candidates, things became worse in a match where Amavubi was beaten by Libya at Nyamirambo stadium.
Johnny McKinstry started coaching in May 2013 in Sierra Leone, before he was sacked in September 2014 despite improvements of the team’s FIFA ranking from 50th to 7th position in Africa.
Unlike his achievements in Sierra Leone, Amavubi has slipped back from 64th to 96th place since he started coaching the national team and lost six consecutive matches.
