MINISPOC for vast Rebero entertainment facility

The Ministry of Sports and Culture has unveiled a plan of building an enterinment center at Rebero hill in Kicukiro district, where various entertainment festivals and concerts will be held.

In 2014, MINISPOC announced that the entertainment center would be constructed in Remera at a cost of over Rwf 3.3 billion.

Uwacu Julienne, the Minister of Sports and Culture has told media that the project blueprint was later expanded to bring in several other entertainment platforms.
The center will be an additional facility to Kigali Cultural Village also expected to be built in Rebero.

The center and Kigali Cultural Village will be comprised of different facilities including accommodation for tourists, a commercial section and a cultural exhibition wing, sports facilities and gardens.

“What we expected to do at the stadium was very little compared to what the new project will achieve. We have chosen to make it through a joint venture and build one vast facility that will accommodate entertainment, sports, cultural exhibitions and hosting tourists,” said Uwacu.

“The project was not stopped but it has been expanded to a higher level. The implementation has started and construction works will soon commence in Rebero,” she added.

Construction activities are expected to start in the 2016/2017 financial year to be built in collaboration of MINISPOC and Rwanda Development Board.
