MINEDUC Distributes 26 Laptops to IPRCs & TSSs

The Ministry of Education has distributed 26 Laptops equiped with Solidworks Software to two Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centers (IPRCs) and two technical Secondary Schools (TSSs).

The move is under the Technology Subject Support Service programme (T 4 programme) that will support the utilization of computer Aid Design in teaching technical subjects using Solidworks Software.

T4 programme covers four subjects; Design and Communication Graphics, Technology, Engineering Technology and Architectural Technology, in which solidworks is uded as a tool.

According to Eng.Remy Twiringiyimana, the Director of Research and Development at the Ministry of Education, the Workforce Development Authority (WDA) is committed to expanding the program to all IPRCs late 2016, currently initiated in 4 pilot institutions.

The beneficiaries include; Kicukiro IPRC, Tumba College of Technology, Nyanza Technical School and Nyamata Secondary School.

“Laptops with solidwork software will help our teachers to freely review and prepare courses even at home” Leonald Manirabona the Director of Nyanza Technical School said.

T4 curriculum was introduced as a pilot project in Rwanda technical institutions from the academic year 2012, replacing the traditional technical drawing.

Some teachers got trained from Ireland and have trained other 26 in Solidworks.
