MINEDUC calls for competitiveness

{The Ministry of Education has called upon universities and secondary schools to concentrate more on training learners in courses that are competitive instead of releasing big numbers of graduates without skills needed on the job market.}

Dr. Marie Christine Gasingirwa, Director General of Science, Technology and Research /MINEDUC made the call during a conference that revolved around the contribution of universities and secondary schools towards empowering youth in entrepreneurship skills.

“We encourage high schools and universities to equip students with entrepreneurship courses. Schools should be more focused on possible opportunities a graduate has ahead instead of taking pride in the graduates released to the market,” said Dr Gasingirwa.

Dr Tombola Gustave, Vice Rector Academics at University of Tourism, Technology and Business studies (UTB) noted that early education before university must not be ignored as quality of education starts from as early as kindergarten through to high schools and other values acquired from family and upbringing.
