According to a statement from FERWAFA, Mashami main targets as the interim Amavubi head coach are:
- Ensuring that Rwanda qualifies to the next round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Rwanda will face Seychelles in the preliminary round of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers with the first leg due away in Victoria on September 2 while the return leg will be in Kigali on September 10, 2019, 18h00 at Stade de Kigali.
- Qualifying Rwanda to the 2020 CAF Africa Nations Championships (CHAN) whose finals will be played in Cameroon. Rwanda will play the final round against Ethiopia, with the first leg due on September 20 in Addis Ababa while the return leg is in Kigali on October 18, 2019.
- Ensuring that Rwanda secures at least four points in the upcoming two 2021 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers where Rwanda is placed in Group F against Mozambique, Cape Verde and hosts Cameroon.
The first and second match days are scheduled in November 2019 with Rwanda playing away to Mozambique before hosting Cameroon in Kigali, all matches will be played between November11-19, 2019.
FERWAFA has the right to terminate or not renew Mashami’s contract if he fails to meet one of the above targets.
