The body of a young man identified as Mpozembizi Aphrodis,24, has been found in a water trench separating Gitega and Kimisagara sectors near Cyahafi and ADEPR church in Nyarugenge district.
It is said that the deceased was a motorcyclist.
Residents at the scene have told IGIHE that Mpozembizi had been detained in Gikondo rehabilitation center for three weeks.
“We want to know the cause of Mpozembizi death because we last saw him when we visited Kabuga rehabilitation center where he was detained,” said the landlord of the deceased.
Police spokesperson in Kigali city,Supt. Hitayezu Emmanuel said investigations are underway to identify the cause of his death.
“We have got information about his death and taken the body to Kacyiru hospital for postmortem,” he said.
Supt. Hitayezu explained that police was not aware that the deceased had been detained.
