Police in Gasabo District has arrested a 28-year old man identified as Theogene Ndacyayisenga, for allegedly killing his wife with a machete.
Ndacyayisenga, a resident of Butare cell in Nduba sector purportedly hacked his wife – Delphine Uwineza, 23, to death apparently after the victim accused him of infidelity, local authorities in the area said.
The incident took place on February 13 at about 9:30P.M.
Godfrey Karamuzi, the Executive Secretary of Nduba sector said the incident happened after the victim, who had previously abandoned her husband over the same adulterous issue, came back.
On the fateful day, the victim allegedly accused the husband of being a habitual adulterer, and threatened that she would leave him again, if he doesn’t desist from such sexual acts.
This, according to Karamuzi, prompted Ndacyayisenga to do the bloody act.
The body of the deceased was taken to the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK) while the suspect is currently in custody at Gisozi Police Station.
The deceased is also said to have been accusing her husband of neglecting his family duties and instead spent most of his time and money drinking and committing adulterous acts.
