As a means to get a quick bail, Niyongabo offered the officer Frw50, 000, apparently which is part of the money he had generated from selling the illegal drug.

Niyongabo, who confessed to the crime and begged to be pardoned, said that he bought narcotics from Kigali.

He also gave police a list of other people identified as Claver Kazungu, Emmanuel Ndabarora Evode Muhire, as his accomplice, who were also arrested later in the day.
The quartet is detained at Nyamata police station.

The District Police Commander, Superitendant Athanase Nshuti, who confirmed the arrest, gave stern warning to all those engaged in such criminal acts.

He commended Bugesera residents, whom he said have been behind the arrest of most people involved in criminal acts in recent past.

Narcotics and illicit liquor are said to be the cause of other crimes, like domestic violence related offenses such as assault, rape and defilement and theft.
