Man arrested with 390 school text books, no supporting documents

A 38 old man was yesterday afternoon arrested by police in Kabarondo sector of Kayonza district in possession of 390 secondary school text books without accompanying/supporting documents, some of which bear stamps from two different schools.

The arrested was in a Coaster traveling from Kibungo to Kigali city.

Talking to IGIHE, IP Emmanuel Kayigi, the Eastern Province Police spokesperson detailed the circumstances of his arrest.

“He has been arrested by the police with 390 books. It was realized that the secondary schools text books of science, mathematics, among others, had stamps of schools like Groupe Scolaire Rugoma and Groupe Scolaire Kabirizi from Ngoma district, Eastern Province,” he said.

Kayigi says that the arrested man claims to have bought books from students in different regions.

Police’s investigations have started to establish where the culprit might have procured the books from. The two schools of whose stamps appear in some of the books do not agree that the said books belong to them.
