This individual had previously been married to a woman, resulting in a divorce, though they shared a child during their union. Subsequently, he entered into another relationship with a different woman, who moved in with him into the same house previously occupied by his first wife.
Upon the return of his ex-wife on January 16, 2024, she brought her grievances before the village forum, seeking a resolution. Dissatisfied with the proposed solution, the man decided to take matters into his own hands and proceeded to demolish the dwelling they shared.
SP Jean Bosco Mwiseneza, the spokesperson for the Northern Province Police, confirmed the man’s arrest and urged the public to report conflicts involving residences beforehand.
He emphasized the importance of timely reporting to prevent criminal activities and advised individuals to address disagreements through local authorities and the legal system, rather than acting impulsively.
The arrested man is currently in custody at Muhoza Police Station in Musanze District, while investigations are ongoing to gather more information about the incident.
