Residents of Kamwiza village located in Munanira II cell at Nyakabanda sector arrested a man in the night of September 2, who has been allegedly stealing from their gardens.
Munyentwari Richard 35 was caught red-handed with a sack of bananas which he had stolen from a garden.
He said the bananas had been brought down by wind and rain and thought they were not of any use to the owners. That’s when he decided to stuff them in a sack.
Munyentwari pleaded with residents of the area not to take him to the Police station but to beat him.
However, Ngirinshuti Tadeyo a member of the night patrol group in the area insisted that this was not the first time Munyentwari had been arrested over theft.
Munyentwari is originally from Karongi district
