The resolutions are part of new COVID-19 containment measures reviewed by the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday 11th August 2021 at Village Urugwiro chaired by President Paul Kagame.
New measures will take effect countrywide from 12th August to 1st September 2021.
The cabinet meeting has also resolved that individual and non-contact outdoor sports activities are permitted while gyms will also resume progressively.
Among others; civil, religious and traditional marriage ceremonies shall resume but should not exceed 50 persons. Events held is licensed venues should not exceed 30% of venue capacity while all guests must possess COVID-19 negative test results taken within 24 hours before the event.
Restaurants shall resume with 30% occupancy limit while restaurants that offer outdoor seating service may operate at 50% venue capacity.
Public transport buses are allowed to operate not exceeding 75% of seating capacity.
The cabinet meeting has also allowed places of worship to resume with no more than 30 percent maximum occupancy.
