Locals tell their Story after participating in the ongoing “Egypt & Middle East Expo”

{Local residents have appreciated the ongoing “Egypt and Middle East Expo” which is an opportunity for them to buy different products at low price comparing to local prices.}

The exhibition began October 29, 2014, but those who have already participated in this Expo say it’s an opportunity to buy discounted products, a move that allows them to save more money.

Among them, those who spoke to this website have confirmed having benefited from this exhibition which will end on Nov. 9, 2014.

Kabano Kibanguka Viateur , 34, one of customers who spoke to IGIHE said that one day he wanted to buy the carpet textile and then failed to buy it due to the expensive prices in the country.

He added that he had tried to send someone to buy the same carpet in Sudan and there was told to pay $300 (Approx. Rwf 210,000)

For all that he has clarified that he has had the pleasure of buying the same carpet at the Egypt & Middle East Expo at the small price.

In his own words he says “I wanted to buy a house carpet textile in Kigali but I found that the price was so high to the point I cannot afford to buy it. After that, I asked someone who was in Darfur to buy it for me, but he told me I should send about $ 300. “

However, he said “Today I come to this Expo and when we discussed the price I could pay for the carpet we agreed a price of Rwf 75,000.”

One of the exhibitors told this website that they are not money oriented, but, she says “Yes we came here to sell, but this is not our utmost goal. The most important is to show what we do so as to let Rwandans and other people in the region know about our products.”

She added that this is also an opportunity to help Rwandans get cost effective goods without going to purchase them abroad.

“It is not understandable to hear that someone has gone abroad to buy Kitchen Kits or shoes. We have them on our local market. We have to change our mindset on local products.”

Participants in the expo include 59 owners of small and medium enterprises from Egypt and exhibitors from Rwanda. They are exhibiting different products including home furniture, handcrafts, textiles, electrical appliances, jewelry and food products.
