Local Leaders Recieve Training on Crime Prevention

{{About 600 local leaders in Bugesera district are undergoing a security training session offered by the Rwanda National Police.}}

The training is aimed at equipping them capacity to understand crime trends and how to deal with them.

This exercise is also meant to strengthen community-policing mechanisms.

Louis Rwagaju, the Mayor of Bugesera District said the first group of trainees is comprised of sector leaders. Cell leaders will also be trained.

At the end of the exercise, local leaders are expected to have gained substantial skills to help them understand the nature of crimes in their respective villages. The crimes include gender-based violence and drugs abuse.

During this session, officials from the ministry of local government will share with the trainees various ways of solving disputes in their communities.

The exercise is part of the memorandum of understanding signed between Rwanda National Police and different districts including Bugesera District.
