{The international charity organization which helps vulnerable people across the World (Lions Club) has requested its members to join Rwandans in the drive of fighting against genocide ideology and teach people the truth of the history of the 1994 genocide against Tutsi. }
The call was made yesterday as Lion Club members visited Kigali memorial as part of joining Rwandans during the 22nd commemoration of genocide perpetrated against Tutsi.
The leader of Lions Club, Alphonse Kayiranga Mukama said that they have decided to remember for the 22nd commemoration of genocide against Tutsi so that members get enough explanations of the tragic history.
“All foreigners who visited the memorial are now acquainted with adequate explanations about the preparation and execution of genocide against Tutsi in 1994.This will facilitate to tell the truth in countries of origin,” he said.
Nastor Ntazigomba, one of members of Lions Club from Burundi highlighted the need to visit memorials as people get information to avoid reoccurrence of similar tragedies.
“Seeing what happened serves as a lesson to be explained to neighbors to avoid ra reoccurrence of the same,” he said.
He appealed to colleagues’ concerted efforts in eradicating genocide ideology since as it ruins communities.
Lions Club was founded in 1917 and started operating in Rwanda since 1960. It has over 1,300,000 members across the World.
