Ladies Urged Against Paying men to Marry them

In the Next six months, Religious institutions in the districts of Nyamasheke and Rusizi have vowed to senstise the local population on children rights and the fight against HIV/AIDS.

This follows a recent workshop in held in Rusizi that brought together religious leaders in the two districts.

It was also noted that several young women in the area have been paying young men to marry them, a situation that has resulted in failed marriages and abuse of children rights born in such homes.

On many occasions desperate young ladies promise a lot of money to young men to marry them but they end up failing to raise this money and this leads to family conflicts.

Religious leaders therefore advised that such money should be used to startup a family by this couple not to be paid to the young man alone.

Niragire Thierry in charge of anti AIDS program in the Religious Association in the area noted that using religious institutions to disseminate such information about HIV AIDS and family and children rights will create a quick positive impact.

Archdeacon Canon Ndizihiwe Azaria of the Anglican church in the area said the religious institutions will prioritise senstising the youth on efforts against HIV/AIDS.
