{{The Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) has won the competition which focuses on discussions relating to good governance in Rwanda.}}
The competition was organized by Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) targeting universities and schools across the country.
Fatuma Ndagiza, Deputy Director General of RGB said the competition was aimed at encouraging young people to express their views on national issues.
She said she was satisfied with the high quality of interventions of competitors.
“Candidates speak with confidence and clarity. They provide rich ideas and documented on key sectors of the country’s development, “she said.
At university level, two teams from KIST and NUR (National University of Rwanda) competed in the final phase.
While at high school level, APRED Ndera competed with FAWE Girls Schools.
KIST beat UNR and received a prize of cash Frw350,000, while UNR received Frw 250,000.
FAWE Girls School won the first prize of Frw230,000 against APRED Ndera which received Frw 150,000.
The theme for debate at high School Level was: “The private sector has contributed more than the public sector in the economic development of less developed countries.”
While Universities was proposed the topic of discussion: “The Rwanda should adopt more agricultural development as industrial development.”
