{Residents of Kirehe were on December 8, reminded of their duty to fight and prevent crimes.}
They were also challenged that fighting a crime requires one to be clean against any illegal act, which depicts a picture of exemplary, integrity and patriotism.
The call was made by Inspector of Police (IP) Gahigi Harerimana, the District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO), while addressing residents of Kigina Sector.
The meeting focused on enhancing community patrols especially against theft of livestock, sanitation and hygiene, actively participating in all security and development programmes.
It followed recent cases of theft, especially of livestock in which some people have been arrested.
“Don’t let your communities be a den of thieves or drug dealers. If you suspect anyone to be involved in any unlawful acts, always be the first to inform the police,” IP Harerimana said, urging them not to cover-up criminals.
He also hinted on the issue of domestic and gender based violence, and assault which in most cases are committed by people under the influence of drugs or excessive drinking.
