Kirehe residents challenged on preserving security

{Police in Kirehe District have urged residents to safeguard the prevailing peace and security in their neighbourhoods as means of effectively preserve the country’s achievements.}

The call was made by the District Police Commander (DPC) Supt. James Rutaremara, on December 12, while addressing hundreds of residents in Mushikiri Sector.

“Security is one of the major pillars of economic stability and development, so upholding it will benefit you and all Rwandans” Supt. Rutaremara said.

He appealed to residents to disassociate themselves from all illegal activities that may lead to bad consequences such as long term jail sentences.

He particularly mentioned a few elements that who have been reportedly involved in abetting crimes, such as trafficking, selling and abusing illicit drugs noting that those influenced by narcotic substances, work for less hours, end-up physically assaulting their spouses and other family members, sell or vandalize family property which causes domestic and community wrangles.

Supt. Rutaremara told residents that one of the best ways they can contribute to crime prevention is by reporting to security organs any suspected person involved in drug related crimes and other malpractices.

Grassroots leaders were also encouraged to identify strangers in their community and to also document all suspected wrongdoers.
