The worst hit areas include, Kicukiro, Kanombe,Gisozi and Muhima suburbs.
People residing in Murambi Village, situated in Nyanza Sector, Gatenga told IGIHE that they have lacked water since the end of March. Residents say they only got water twice since the end of March.
In highly populated Nyakabanda in Niboye sector in kicukiro district, there has been no supply of water for the past two days in a row.
Several residents are seen queuing at private water suppliers where water costs Frw200 per Jerrycan.
Sangimana Aimable, one of the residents in Nyanza Sector, Gatenga says, “We survive on rain water and when there is no rain we fetch water from swamps.”
Manirakiza Claude, in charge of Monitoring and evaluation in distributing water around the country, explained that the cause is from Nzove water plant which lacks electricity after a transmission line was ruined by Nyabarongo River, two weeks ago.
Manirakiza insists that they are working round the clock to harmonize the situation.
EWASA management has urged the public to report any incidences such as broken water pipes.
This comes from the fact that water supplied in Kicukiro takes a long channel to reach the district.
