Kigali Residents Urged to Reject Poor Services

Residents in Kigali have been urged to reject poor services provided by local leaders.

The advice was given by Minister of Local Government James Musoni while meeting with local leaders in Kigali City.

Local leaders were urged to double efforts in their daily activities as well as giving value to self reliance without depending on foreign aid.

The minister urged local leaders to reduce the time they spend in offices and approach residents to help them identify ways that can enhance the economic progress.

The local leaders were warned against denying services to residents; “some leaders do not solve residents’ complaints on the right time.”

Residents denied services were urged to stand up for their rights and report such leaders.

Musoni said,“ leaders that fail to comply with their duties shall be punished.”

Local village leaders also revealed that the recent decision to deprive them from owning stamps has negatively impacted their works.

The Mayor of Kigali City Fidele Ndayisaba explained that the stamps were causing more problems than solving them.

Ndayisaba explained that the role of a village leader is to sensitize and inform residents on Government programs noting that such duties cannot require a stamp.
