Kicukiro to Improve Transport Infrastructure

As part of developing transport infrastructure, Kicukiro district will complete the construction of three tarmac roads in one month period. The length of the tarmac roads is 4 km.

The roads that are in completion stage are Gatenga – MAGERWA ( 3 km), SFB – RWANDEX (1 km) and RBS – Kicukiro Paroise ( 1 km).

Felix Rwamurango in charge of road construction and maintenance in Kicukiro district told IGIHE that the road from Rwanda Bureau of Standards to Kicukiro Parish have taken an estimated cost of Frw 410 Million.

“The cost for the other two roads hasn`t yet been finalized but might take an estimated cost of 1.7 billion RWF”, remarked Rwamurango.

The tarmac roads that are set to be completed in Kicukiro district are part of construction works on several roads in Kigali city stretching up to 34.6km, and expected to cost over Frw 12.1 billion according to Kigali city.

The funds were jointly provided by the central government, Kigali City Council and local residents who provided 5% of the funds according to the same source.
