{A devastating incident of an accident has occurred this afternoon when a heavy truck lost control due to failure of the break-system, wavered off the road and rammed into people that were moving about Kicukiro trading center, going about their usual business, killing seven instantly and critically injuring nine others. }
The carnage has been caused by truck number RAA 124.
The Rwanda National Police traffic spokesperson, SP Jean Marie Vianney Ndushabandi has told IGIHE that the accident resulted from the failure of the break system of the truck that was driving from Gahanga sector of Kicukiro district.
It spontaneously hit passengers, cars and motorbikes in the stampede that ensued.
He explained that seven died immediately, 9 seriously injured of whom 5 have been taken to Rwanda Military Hospital and 4 others taken to Kigali University Teaching Hospital (CHUK).
